Helena Modjeska House

The Helena Modjeska House, a registered historical landmark, is nestled in Modjeska Canyon at the base of the Santa Ana Mountains. On the banks of Santiago Creek within a grove of live oaks, it is easy to imagine early Orange County life at this famous retreat. Inside the Outdoors ® at Helena Modjeska House is a half day program.

Curriculum enrichment for 3rd & 4th grade: California Social Science Content Standards
3rd Grade: 3.1.1, 3.4.3, 3.5.1, 3.5.2
4th Grade: 4.4.9

Third and fourth grade students will have the opportunity to experience life in Santiago Canyon at the turn-of-the-20th century. During this half day program students will experience hands-on activities at these areas:

House
Tour the actress’ house and experience daily life during the turn-of-the-20th century

Hike
Learn more lore of the canyon while hiking along the canyon ridge

Theater
Dramatize a fairy tale written by Helena Modjeska using props and audience participation

Beekeeping
Learn the steps of beekeeping from pollination to honey collection






     Time: 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.   
     Lunch area is available in the park across 
     the street.
